FCE Essay and Artwork Contest
Character Counts

 

The Tennessee Family and Community Education clubs (TAFCE) participate each year in the National Association for Family and Community Education (NAFCE) Character Counts essay and artwork contest. The contest runs each September 1 through January 31 at the county level.

Contest Objectives:

  • Promote ethics among children using the Six Pillars of Character
  • Encourage students to improve their writing and drawing skills
  • Create public awareness in the achievement of students
  • Create an opportunity for local FCE members to participate in a nationwide project
  • Promote and market FCE to the community during National FCE Week

Participants:
Any current fourth grade student attending public, private or home school is eligible to participate.

Prizes:

  • Local and County Level – Recognition and prizes vary by location
  • State Level – Recognition
  • National Level – the National 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners are announced at the National FCE Annual Conference and awarded Savings Bonds of $500, $250 and $100, respectively.
